North Hill Community Litter Project

A community in Cornwall challenges the litter problem!

Can a local group really prevent littering? We'll certainly try!

Picking, Prevention and Partners

Litter is degrading the environment in Cornwall and across the UK. It causes problems for wildlife as well as costing us all too much to clear up!

You can read here about the parish litter picking volunteers, the litter problems, and essentially how the community is supporting the project.

It's summer, and we're finding more drinks bottles - water and soft drinks as well as alcohol.

Please spend a few minutes readingabout how this project works - the Picking, Prevention and Partners - about our aims and how we started.

You can find out what is happening here in Cornwall on the Clean Cornwall website, then check out the litter scene where you live by going to the LitterAction website www.litteraction.org

Say NO to LITTER

say no to litterThis is our new sign and it’s message is one that we – partners, volunteers and friends of the project – can all promote.

Please help us to promote this message throughout the parish and beyond.

Many thanks to all who attended our events at the village halls (North Hill and Coads Green); we really appreciate your support. We were also very pleased that members of three other parishes came to find out how our project is working and will be looking at possibly forming their own groups.
Your ideas and observations will help us to continue to develop this project and we are always keen for feedback, so please do not hesitate to get in touch.

And if you would like to join our group of volunteers we'd love to hear from you.

Fly-Tipping

We have recently been asked about fly-tipping, so here is some advice taken from the Cornwall Council website:

Fly-tipping (the illegal dumping of rubbish or bulky items on land not licensed to receive it) can be dangerous, pollutes land and waterways and costs the council tax payer significant amounts of money to clear away.
Report fly-tipping to your council
You should contact the council if you see someone fly-tipping or to report fly-tipped waste; in both cases, provide as much detail as possible.
Contact Environmental Management on 0300 1234 202, or email envmanagement@cornwall.gov.uk, or by using the fly-tipping form on the Council website.
