  • Eastgate Studio 11 Eastgate England, HU17 0DR United Kingdom (map)

Eastgate Studio Gallery is delighted to welcome the Ropewalk Printmakers back for our summer exhibition.

Based at The Ropewalk Print Workshop in Barton, this diverse group brings together both established printmakers and those newer to the discipline. The workshop is known for its open, inclusive and supportive environment, nurturing creativity across the Humber region and beyond.

“Hornbeam Fruits” mezzotint by Paul Butler

Each year, the group collaborates on a themed exhibition. For 2026, the theme of trees has inspired a rich and varied collection of original prints. From detailed studies of bark, leaf and texture to more expressive and abstract interpretations of woodland, landscape and growth, the exhibition showcases the many ways artists connect with the natural world.

“The Company of Wolves” mezzotint by Janet Cox

Featuring 26 artists, all with links to the Humber region, the exhibition highlights a wide range of printmaking techniques, from traditional processes to contemporary experimentation. Every piece is hand-printed, reflecting the individual skill, approach and creative voice of each artist.

“Hart in the Forest” mezzotint by Janet Cox

Established in 2000, the Ropewalk Print Workshop continues to be a vital space for artists to develop and refine their practice. This exhibition celebrates both its long-standing members and newer contributors, offering visitors a compelling insight into the evolving art of printmaking.
