Printmaking Workshop at Eastgate Studio
Discover the art and craft of printmaking. Designed for beginners and creative enthusiasts alike, this hands-on session provides a structured introduction to the essential techniques, tools, and processes of traditional printmaking.
What's included?
2hrs 30mins printmaking workshop for one.
One Month access to Eastgate Studio to complete your project.
Printmaking Workshops:
Teaching, support and advice in printmaking processes giving you the skills to learn something new, help you to develop your portfolio and guide you through a range of printmaking techniques.
Relief:the design is drawn then carved into a printing block. The block is inked and pressed onto paper to make a print. The print will reveal the raised surface of the carved block and will be a mirror image of the printing block.
Intaglio: the image is produced by incising into the printing plate – the incised line or area holds the ink and creates the image. Our workshops include:
Etching: a printmaking technique that uses chemical action to produce incised lines in a metal printing plate which then hold the applied ink and form the image
Drypoint: a printmaking process in which a design is drawn on a plate with a sharp, pointed needle-like instrument.
Screenprinting: A variety of printing, using a screen made from fabric (silk or synthetic) stretched tightly over a frame.
Stencil: the non-printing areas on a fabric screen are blocked out by a stencil. A squeegee is used to force ink through the non-blocked areas, onto the paper.
Photo-screenprint: A light-sensitive resist is applied onto the screen which is then developed as a photograph creating a stencil on the fabric of the screen.
Monoprint: a form of printmaking where the image can only be made once, unlike most printmaking which allows for multiple originals. This could include open screenprinting or a collagraph.
Your workshop voucher also includes one month’s membership to Eastgate Studio.
